Station Hands
As a Station Hand at Adnanta Pastoral Company, you’ll be part of a hardworking and supportive team responsible for the day-to-day running of the station. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to gain valuable skills across all areas of northern cattle operations.
You’ll assist with a wide range of station duties including cattle work, mustering (using bikes and buggies only), machinery operation, fencing, and general maintenance of plant, machinery, and infrastructure. Bore runs, livestock care, and routine property upkeep are also key parts of the role.
Working alongside a close-knit family team, you’ll be valued for your reliability, initiative, and positive attitude. There are excellent opportunities for training and certification within the agricultural sector, helping you build experience and progress your career in the cattle industry.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Cattle work, including weaner processing, handling, and inductions

Mustering using buggies and motorbikes (no horses)

Operating and maintaining machinery and vehicles

Checking and maintaining watering points and bores
-
General property and infrastructure maintenance (fencing, yards, sheds, etc.)

Routine servicing and repairs of vehicles and machinery
-
Homestead maintenance and gardening
-
General housekeeping, ensuring a tidy and safe work and living environment

Euthanisation of livestock when required
-
Following company policies and procedures, and taking direction from station management

Cook/All Rounder
As the Cook/Allrounder at Adnanta Pastoral Company, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the homestead and supporting the wider station team. This is a varied and rewarding position for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in keeping things tidy and organised, and is happy to lend a hand wherever needed.

You’ll be responsible for preparing healthy, home-style meals for staff, family, and visitors, maintaining high standards of kitchen cleanliness, and assisting with general station upkeep. The role also includes caring for gardens, keeping communal areas clean, and occasionally helping with children after school hours.

Working as part of a close-knit and supportive team, you’ll be valued for your reliability, positive attitude, and practical approach to daily station life.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities​

Prepare three healthy meals a day for approximately six adults and three children in a well-equipped communal kitchen (numbers may increase during mustering and visitor periods)

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and dining areas

Keep communal living spaces tidy and welcoming

Clean guest buildings used by visitors and station staff

Maintain lawns and established gardens around the homestead

Feed animals and assist with general property tasks as required

Supervise children after school hours when needed

Governess
At Umbearra Station, there are currently three school-aged children who complete their lessons through Alice Springs School of the Air. The children learn in a modern, well-equipped schoolroom, and the role involves supporting their distance education program, assisting with daily lessons, and helping to create a fun, structured, and engaging home classroom environment.

Machinery Operator
The position involves operating heavy machinery, earthworks, land rehabilitation, and general station duties. The majority of the work will be performed from mobile camps on remote parts of the stations.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities​

Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including Cat D8R, D6M, D6D dozers, Cat 12M, 140H, and JD 670B graders

Perform earthmoving work including clearing internal and boundary fence lines, developing new roads, and creating large-scale fire breaks for APC’s carbon project
-
Contour land and implement erosion control for land rehabilitation
-
Conduct general station duties when earthmoving work is not possible due to weather conditions
-
Perform basic machinery maintenance and servicing
-
Observe and assist with general property needs, including fencing, livestock health, and welfare
-
Ensure mobile camp is maintained in a tidy, safe, and organized manner
-
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding machinery, work progress, and station needs
-
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures for self and others

Job Requirements
-
Experience operating graders and bulldozers (ticketed preferred)
-
Ability to live and work in remote, portable camps for extended periods
-
Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and pride in workmanship
-
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude for machinery maintenance
-
Current Class C driver’s licence
-
Flexibility to assist with general station duties when required

Genuine passion for agriculture and working in rural settings
